## In short

- Consumers in the EU have 14 days to withdraw from a paid subscription, no reason needed.
- Asking us to start immediately does not cancel that right — you simply pay for the days you used.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method within 14 days of us receiving your request.
- Outside the withdrawal window, we still refund honest mistakes: an unintended renewal, a duplicate charge, or an outage that cost you the month.

## 1. Your right to withdraw (EU consumers)

If you bought a paid plan **as a consumer** — outside any trade, business or profession — you have **14 calendar days** to change your mind, with no reason and no penalty. The period runs from the day the contract is concluded, that is the day your paid subscription starts.

To withdraw, simply tell us before the 14 days are up. Any clear statement works:

- email **billing@flashlystudio.com** with your account email, or
- send the form in section 5 below.

We will acknowledge your request without delay.

## 2. What happens when you ask us to start straight away

A subscription that only began after a two-week cooling-off period would be useless, so we start it immediately — and we ask for your express request to do so at checkout.

That request does **not** make you lose your right of withdrawal. It changes only what you pay if you use it:

- **You pay a proportionate amount** for the part of the subscription period you actually had access to, calculated on the total price of the plan (French Consumer Code, art. L.221-25).
- **We refund the rest** within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal.

**One exception, and it is narrow.** For digital content you have already generated and downloaded — individual image and video files — the right of withdrawal is lost once supply of those files began, provided you expressly consented and acknowledged that loss at the time (art. L.221-28, 13°). This applies only to the files themselves. It does not extinguish your right to withdraw from the subscription.

We do not ask you to waive anything else, and any clause purporting to make you give up the right of withdrawal wholesale would be unenforceable in any case.

## 3. Refunds outside the withdrawal period

The law does not require these. We do them anyway, because arguing about them is worse business than paying them.

We will refund you if:

- **You were charged after cancelling.** Full refund, always.
- **You were charged twice for the same period.** Full refund of the duplicate.
- **A renewal caught you out** and you tell us within 7 days without having used the new period in any substantial way. Full refund.
- **A prolonged outage or defect** prevented you using what you paid for. We refund the affected period, in whole or in part.
- **Credits were consumed by a failure on our side** — a generation that errored and charged you. We restore the credits, or refund them if you have left.

We will generally **not** refund:

- a month you used and simply did not get enough out of;
- unused credits on cancellation or downgrade, which expire with the period;
- an account terminated for the conduct in section 4 of the [Terms of Service](/terms).

None of this limits your legal guarantee of conformity (French Consumer Code, art. L.224-25-1 and following), which applies for the whole duration of supply and which we cannot contract out of.

## 4. How and when you get the money

- Refunds go back to the **original payment method**, through Stripe. We cannot send them anywhere else.
- We process them **within 14 days** of accepting your request; your bank may take a few days more to show it.
- We do not charge a fee to process a refund.
- Refunds are issued in the currency charged. We cannot compensate for exchange-rate movement between the charge and the refund.

## 5. Standard withdrawal form

You may use this form, but you do not have to — any clear statement of your decision is enough. This is the model form annexed to article R.221-1 of the French Consumer Code.

## 6. If we disagree

Write to **billing@flashlystudio.com** first — most disputes end there.

If we cannot settle it, you may refer the matter free of charge to our consumer mediator, named on the [Legal Notice](/legal-notice) page (French Consumer Code, art. L.612-1). The European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform closed on 20 July 2025 and is no longer available.

You keep the right to go to court, including in the courts of your own place of residence.
